Electronic Material for Online Publication
Cognitive Technology will accept multimedia files such as animations, movies,
audio, etc., that illustrate and/or supplement the text. This will be published
online if the article is accepted. The objective of electronic media is to augment
the article’s content and more clearly convey the complexities inherent to
certain cognitive technologies. Please provide adequate assurances that no copyrights
are violated in publishing such electronic materials.
Procedures for Review and Publication
Cognitive Technology uses the following procedures for review of manuscripts:
- The Editor of Cognitive Technology first reviews submitted articles to
determine their appropriateness for the journal. Manuscripts are then assigned for
review to an Associate Editor, if appropriate, or the Editor will send out directly
for review to members of the consulting Editorial Board. If warranted, qualified
scholars will be recruited as external reviewers for a given manuscript.
- Cognitive Technology uses masked review procedures. Typically, a “single-blind”
review process is used. In this process, reviewers will know the identity of the
author(s), but author(s) will not be told the identity of reviewers unless the reviewers
choose to reveal their identities. If a “double-blind” review is desired,
authors should note this in their cover letter and remove all identifying information
from the title page and any acknowledgments.
- Cognitive Technology will work to achieve a complete review of an original
submitted manuscript within 60 days of receipt.
- Cognitive Technology does require authors to transfer copyrights to the
written work published in the journal’s various formats. But Cognitive Technology
does routinely grant permission to authors to share such rights on a case by case
basis with the journal when requested in writing prior to any such use. Cognitive
Technology reserves the right to withhold such permission at its sole discretion.
